Premier Peter Gutwein will hold a press conference on Friday morning following the Devonport jumping castle tragedy which left five children dead and three critical.
The jumping castle was blown into the air by a large gust of wind during an end-of-year celebration at Hillcrest Primary School on Thursday morning.
Several children fell from a height of 10 metres when the wind event occurred.
Mr Gutwein on Thursday said it was “difficult” to find the words to describe the tragic scenes which left families and emergency service personnel in tears.
“I’m certain that I speak for all Tasmanians in extending my deepest sympathies to the family, friends and loved ones of everyone affected by today’s tragedy,” he said.
“For the five children who remain in hospital, our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families and their friends during this very difficult time.”
