Victim in fatal car crash at Wyndham named

Police have name the person who died following a serious crash in Southland on Friday.

He was 33-year-old Haimana Nessie Scoullar, of Tokanui.

Police are making further inquiries and are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen a dark-coloured Mazda ute travelling on Wyndham Rd or near Mataura about 11pm on Friday.

It is believed Scoullar died after the ute they were travelling in rolled into a paddock.

A police spokesperson said they were called to the crash on Wyndham Rd at 11.08pm on Friday.

Scoullar died at the scene.

The serious Crash Unit had examined the scene, the spokesperson said.

Police extend their condolences to Scoullar’s family at this difficult time.

The crash was one of three fatal crashes throughout the country on the weekend.

One person died after a single vehicle crash on Glenhu Rd in North Canterbury just before 8.30pm on Friday. Another person was flown to Christchurch Hospital.

Two people died after a serious crash involving a car and truck on Savill Dr in Favona, Auckland, on Saturday night.
