Vaccine mandate for Victorian builders comes into effect

A vaccine mandate for construction workers has come into effect across Victoria today.

The new rule means staff at building sites will be required to have received both doses of any COVID-19 vaccine to attend work.

The mandate was at the centre of violent protests in Melbourne in September that saw thousands march to the CFMEU's headquarters on Elizabeth Street.

The measure will extend to residential aged care staff from Monday.
