The White House has been ‘opaque’ throughout the negotiation process with Russia

Washington Examiner’s reporter Christian Datoc says the White House has been “opaque” throughout the negotiation process with Russia.

It comes as Moscow has asked for security guarantees from NATO, including a promise the alliance will not admit Ukraine or any other ex-Soviet nation as new members.

The US agreed to provide written responses to Russian demands next week.

“So, we don’t know the full demands that will be submitted to the Russian side,” Mr Datoc told Sky News Australia.

“That being said, it’s what we’d expect, we (the United States) would want equal standing for Ukraine, in NATO to at least have a vote held by the NATO nations, they want Russia to remove troops from the border, and they want Russia…to back down from any malicious attacks.”
