Vitamin giant Swisse is recalling a batch of edible gummies after some bottles of the product were found to have contained mould.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) today said Swisse was recalling one batch of its “Beauty Collagen Glow Gummies” due to the contamination.

The affected batch number is 106188 which carries the expiry date of 06/2023.

Users of the product have been urged to check their bottles for the batch number, which may entitle them to a refund.

“The batch details can be found on the back of the bottle, below the product barcode,” the TGA said in the recall.

“If the bottle is from batch 106188, immediately stop using the product and return it to the place of purchase for a refund or contact Swisse Wellness Customer Service on 1800 794 773.

“No other batches or other Swisse products are affected by this recall at this time.”

The mould discovered in the bottles was “visible to the naked eye” and discolouration and caused some texture changes to the gummies.

Testing identified the strain as Aspergillus penicillioides, which poses “minimal risk” to the general population.

Some users who are immunocompromised could become ill if an affected product is consumed.
