Safety improvements around Stratford High School are being proposed, but the council is asking for the community’s opinion.
The Stratford District Council is proposing to make the streets around its schools safer, and is seeking community feedback.
It is starting with Stratford High School, and planning to slow traffic to 30kmh during peak times, upgrade the pedestrian crossing and create more crossing options, and remove a section of the berm to make parking bays.
It is intending to work with all urban schools, with the hope of improving the safety near school entrances, encourage active travel to school and reduce congestion.
Submissions close on December 20, and they can be emailed or posted to the council, or a form can be completed online.
