Sixth man charged after fatal Docklands stabbing of basketballer Alier Riak


A sixth man has been charged over the fatal stabbing of basketballer Alier Riak during an alleged brawl in Melbourne.

The 23-year-old Western Australian died after being stabbed in Docklands following reports of an alleged brawl at about 3.20am on Sunday, 13 March, police said.

Officers said his 26-year-old brother, Kuol Riak, was seriously injured in the incident.

A 19-year-old man was charged overnight with violent disorder and affray.

The Shepparton man has been remanded in custody and will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

Mr Riak's 6-year-old brother, Kuol Riak, was also seriously injured in the incident.

He is the sixth person charged over the alleged murder.

Investigations are ongoing.
