6PR broadcaster Oliver Peterson says it remains to be seen whether Chinese President Xi Jinping is “really going to listen” to Joe Biden when the pair hold their first meeting since the US President’s inauguration.
The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting Mr Biden will confront Xi Jinping over China’s economic coercion of countries like Australian during their face-to-face video-conference.
“Is he really going to listen to Joe Biden and say ok, I’ll play by the rules?”
“I wouldn’t be putting our eggs in Joe Biden’s basket to be perfectly honest,” Mr Peterson told Sky News host Jenna Clarke.
“But at least Xi will take an interview with him, or have a meeting with him – there’s a start.”
