Rapid test demands; testing queues mount; Novak Djokovic granted Australian Open exemption; NSW cases surge as 35,054 new infections and eight deaths; 17,636 cases and 11 deaths in Victoria

New South Wales has recorded another daily record of COVID-19 infections, with 35,054 cases confirmed in the past 24 hours — up 11,923 from yesterday.

Eight more people with coronavirus have died in the state and hospitalisations have once again surged.

Admissions are up 147 from yesterday, with 1491 coronavirus-positive people needing treatment. Of these 119 are in ICU, up 14 from yesterday.

In the past 24 hours 108,844 PCR tests were conducted.
