Rapid antigen test supplies expected to normalise mid-February

National President of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia Trent Twomey says supply of rapid antigen tests should increase towards the end of January – but supply will still “be patchy” until at least mid-February.

It comes as 1.2 million tests arrived in New South Wales overnight.

Mr Twomey said “the issue isn’t approval by agencies, it’s having purchase agreements by the wholesalers and the importers”.

He said that because Australia is “such a small market, we have to pay over the odds to be able to secure our global share.”
