The Queen is trying to “ensure the monarchy remains steady” with Camilla and Charles, according to Spiked Online’s Brendan O’Neill.
The Queen issued a statement on her Platinum Jubilee declaring her ‘sincere wish’ that Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, becomes known as Queen Consort when Prince Charles becomes King.
“I think the Queen wants to make sure that the whole thing stays in good, firm hands when she goes,” Mr O’Neill said.
“I think she’s passing the baton onto someone she respects; I think she’s also doing it obviously for Charles.
“But I think she’s sending an important signal about how she wants this institution to carry on in the future.”
