‘No sense’ in decision to postpone start of school in Queensland

Katter’s Australia Party Leader Robbie Katter says he does not “see the sense” in Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s postponement of the beginning of the school year.

“I’m of the view that there’s a lot of leaders now that are just, you know, delighting in every new crisis they have associating with COVID and carrying on,” he told Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

Mr Katter said he did not know “what the benefit is” of keeping children from school for an additional two weeks as the Omicron variant is already spreading in Queensland.

“I don’t really see the sense in it but it makes a good headline for the premier and I think they like seeing themselves in the headlines,” he said.
