Sky News Senior Political Reporter Jonathan Lea says Labor was working to send Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese’s travelling media pack to Canberra to hear the costings briefing from Jim Chalmers – and then keep them there.
The travelling press pack were initially told they would attend Labor’s costings press conference in Canberra rather than travel with Mr Albanese in Brisbane – a decision which was later overturned.
“There was a number of people who were really frustrated about that – that has since been changed,” Mr Lea said.
Mr Lea said he questioned Mr Albanese on the reasoning behind the initial decision – when he has campaigned “so hard on transparency”.
“Many journalists want to ask him about the costings after they’ve been delivered considering he wouldn’t deal with it this morning.”
