Government’s reluctance to own veteran suicides ‘disappointing’


Soldier On ambassador David Savage says the government’s reluctance to “own” the epidemic of veteran suicides has been disappointing.

“It’s taken a long time for people to accept – and when I say people I’m talking governments, both defence and veterans’ affairs – to realise how great a problem issues such as post traumatic stress is,” Mr Savage told Sky News Australia.

“And how many people that it affects … one of the saddest side effects is the epidemic of veteran suicides.”
