France to restrict indoor facility access to vaccinated only by mid-January

The French government hopes to restrict access to restaurants and indoor events to only those who are vaccinated by mid-January amid a surge in COVID cases.

Residents so far have been able to provide proof of vaccination or a negative result to enter venues.

It comes as 368,000 infections were reported in France yesterday – its highest number of daily COVID cases since the start of the pandemic.

The number has increased its seven-day rolling average of new cases to more than 280,000 cases.
