For first time since 2014, Israel fails to qualify for Eurovision final


Israeli contestant Michael Ben David performed second on Thursday at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin.

At the end of the semi-finals, the 25 contestants will be announced for the big event that will take place in Turin on Saturday night.

Ben David was the second contestant out of the 18 set to perform tonight and provided an excellent performance as he pumped and excited the crowd in Paleolimpico, eventually addressing the audience and saying: “Thank you, love yourself, be proud of who you are. I Love you!”

The Israeli delegation was very pleased with Ben David’s performance: “Everything went according to plan,” they said.

“This is the moment I’ve been waiting for. For this moment we prepared so hard,” Ben David said after his performance. “We left our heart and soul on stage and we did our best. We burst out and the energy was crazy. We did our best, fingers crossed that the audience in Europe would vote for us.”

Except for Israel, in the semifinal this evening, participants (in order of performance): Finland, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Malta, San Marino, Australia, Cyprus, Ireland, northern Macedonia, Estonia, Romania, Poland, Montenegro, Belgium, Sweden, Czech Republic.

The countries that have already secured their place in the first semi-final are Switzerland, Armenia, Iceland, Lithuania, Portugal, Norway, Greece, Moldova, the Netherlands, and the most prominent contestant from Ukraine, and the five largest finalists will also be joined by France, Spain, Germany, Britain and Italy.
