Florida basketball’s loss to Texas Southern Tigers

A team showed up dressed in orange and blue on Monday night but we are not quite sure who they were, as Florida basketball got blown out of its own house by the previously-winless Texas Southern Tigers, 69-54. The loss was the Gators’ first ever to a Southwestern Athletic Conference team, having won its previous 26 straight, while also spelling certain doom for its top-20 ranking in both major polls.

The long story short here is that UF could not buy a bucket for long stretches, with guard Brandon McKissic providing the only outside firepower, dropping four of his six attempts from beyond the arc (his only field goal attempts in the game) after hitting only 18% to start the season. Florida was just 7 of 16 (44%) from the charity stripe, further exacerbating issues.

Take a look at highlights from Florida basketball’s second loss of the 2021-22 campaign on Monday night.
