Firefighters called for backup to help douse Paeroa house fire overnight

Firefighters had to call for more resources to control a fire that ripped through a Coromandel house overnight.

Fire and Emergency were called to the house on Prospect Terrace in Paeroa at 11.47pm on Sunday, and found it well alight.

Firefighters had to call for more resources while battling the blaze to get it under control.

Four fire trucks worked to extinguish it, and left the scene after about an hour and a half.

Police were called to assist firefighters at the scene, a spokesman said.

A fire investigator would work to determine the cause of the fire.
