Adele tearfully announces postponement of Las Vegas residency one day before she was to take the stage at Caesars Palace

The 33-year-old singer-songwriter blamed delivery days and COVID-19 as she announced her Las Vegas residency would be rescheduled – just one day before the show was to kick-off – in a tearful video shared to Instagram.

Adele has issued a tearful apology to her fans as she regretfully announced the cancellation of her Las Vegas residency just 24 hours before she was due to take the stage.

The singer-songwriter said she was “really embarrassed” to break the news in a video shared to Instagram on Thursday (local time).

“I’m so sorry but my show ain’t ready,” Adele said.

“We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we have been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID.”

The 33-year-old said half of her team and crew are infected with the virus, making it “impossible” to finish the show.

The English superstar was scheduled to kick-off the Weekends With Adele Vegas residency on Friday at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, where she was to perform tracks from her chart-topping fourth studio album 30.

The shows were to continue every Friday and Saturday night until mid-April. Adele also has two concerts booked in London’s Hyde Park on July 1 and 2.

Tickets to the shows at Caesars Palace cost between $85 and $680 (USD) for Ticketmaster verified fans but some were changing hands for up to $30,000, according to reports.

Adele will earn an estimated $2 million for each of the Las Vegas shows, Billboard reported.

“I can’t give you what I have right now and I’m gutted,” Adele continued.

“I’m sorry it’s so last minute.

“We’ve been awake for over 30 hours now trying to figure it out and we’ve run out of time and I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and I’m so sorry to everyone that’s travelled again.”

She said all dates would be rescheduled and further information would be released soon.

Caesars Palace also updated its website to confirm all events originally scheduled for Weekends with Adele from January 21 through April 16 have been postponed.

“Guests holding a hotel reservation at a Caesars Entertainment hotel in Las Vegas on January 21 or January 22 may cancel with a full refund,” the update said.
