2022 S Kamari Wilson signs with Gators

New Gators coach Billy Napier may have set low expectations for the early signing period, but he got an absolutely massive recruiting win on Wednesday afternoon when Kamari Wilson, a five-star safety from IMG Academy in Bradenton, announced his commitment to Florida over Georgia, LSU, FSU and Texas A&M.

A Fort Pierce native, Wilson was the No. 2-ranked safety and No. 28 player overall in the 2022 recruiting class. He was seen as a heavy Georgia lean until this past weekend when he took an official visit to UF and the Gators gained a lot of momentum. Per 247Sports’ Blake Alderman, Florida’s hiring of Corey Raymond as cornerbacks coach was one of the primary factors that led to it landing Wilson’s services. Raymond had recruited Wilson to LSU when he coached defensive backs in Baton Rouge.

Here’s Wilson’s announcement.

Wilson is a centerpiece player to build this class around, and there’s still some work to be done as it ranks just 61st in the nation and remains last in the SEC even after his announcement.

Florida has now seen seven players, including Wilson, sign their national letters of intent. The two remaining committed players who haven’t signed are Oklahoma four-star defensive lineman Chris McClellan and three-star Georgia offensive lineman Jalen Farmer.
