2022 CB Julian Humphrey signs with UGA

Despite a late push from Florida coach Billy Napier, four-star cornerback prospect Julian Humphrey stuck with his commitment to Georgia and signed with the Bulldogs when the early signing period began on Wednesday.

A former Florida commit for nearly five months under coach Dan Mullen, Humphrey decommitted from the Gators on Oct. 25 as the team began to struggle down the stretch of the season, and he committed to the Bulldogs a few weeks later on Nov. 12. UF reoffered Humphrey on Tuesday morning in an attempt to sway him from his pledge, but he held firm and signed with UGA on Wednesday afternoon.

Humphrey, a product of Clear Lake High School in Houston, is rated as the No. 90 player in the nation and No. 11 cornerback according to the 247Sports Composite. His return to the fold would have been a major boost and made him the highest-rated recruit in the class for UF, but in spite of that, there have been some positives on signing day so far.

Florida hasn’t lost a recruit yet and has already signed five of its eight commits. One of the three unsigned players is Devin Moore, a four-star safety from Naples who announced his commitment to the Gators on Wednesday and is expected to sign shortly. They are also still in the running for IMG Academy safety Kamari Wilson, an uncommitted five-star prospect who’s considered a Georgia lean but has seen a recent push from Florida.

UF’s class currently ranks 75th in the nation and remains the worst class in the SEC, and while Early Signing Day wasn’t exactly expected to be a big day for the Gators, they could have a couple of surprises in store.
