Florida football has found its replacement for former head coach Dan Mullen exactly a week after he was dismissed from his job following a brutal overtime loss to the Missouri Tigers. Next on deck on the head coach carousel — this is, after all, the fourth head coaching hire since 2010 — is the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns’ HC Billy Napier, who had been rumored in recent days as the front-runner for the job.
One of the most alluring qualities of Napier is his tenacity on the recruiting trail. The 42-year-old Furman graduate spent time on both the Clemson Tigers’ staff under Dabo Swinney and the Alabama Crimson Tide‘s under Nick Saban as well. During his tenure at those two schools, in particular, he managed to amass some significant talent from the prep ranks.
Napier helped the Tigers string together a series of strong classes from 2006 to 2010 that laid the groundwork for the later success in Death Valley, while at ‘Bama from 2013 to 2017 he helped notch some top-name recruits who were pivotal in the Tide’s continued success.
Adam Friedman over at Gators Territory put together a list of 10 notable players recruited by Florida’s newest head coach Billy Napier over the years. Each player is presented according to the year signed along with their Rivals rankings as a prep. Just looking at this list should give Gators fans quite a bit to get excited about.
